Bramley Buffaloes can all but wrap up the minor Premiership in the Co-op Conference on Sunday – but don't expect the bubbly to be cracked open if they do.

The table-toppers welcome Hemel Stags (2.30pm), and victory would see them all but rubber-stamp top spot for the fourth year on the trot.

But chairman Martyn Cheney insists the club only have their eyes on the big prize – namely winning the Grand Final after being the bridesmaids on three occasions in the past four years.

In the last two years, Bramley have lost to Celtic Crusaders and Featherstone Lions, after finishing top of the table, with their sole final success coming in 2006 when they beat Sunday's opponents Hemel.

In 2005, Buffaloes were again minor premiers, but lost to Bradley Dudley Hill, so small wonder that the Leeds men won't be in truly in party mode if they confirm top spot again, with the real celebrations to be saved for Grand Final success at the HJ Stadium in October.

Cheney said: "We'll just be treating Sunday as another day to hopefully get us ready for the final. The ultimate goal is winning the Grand Final and winning it again. We've been in the final four times and only won one.

"Doing it again would be fantastic and doing it on the big stage such as at Warrington would make it all the more worthwhile.

"But it's been a good season so far. Coach Mark Butterill has done a fantastic job and we've only dropped five points all season. We've had two losses and a draw in 17 games and even in the defeats, we've picked up a bonus point."
