Barca-Leeds is celebrating after scooping £1,000 in the YEP's Community Cash giveaway
Last October, the Yorkshire Evening Post and Barclays Bank teamed up to offer shares of a bumper £15,000 cashpot to Leeds's crucial community groups.

The response was enormous, so much so that Barclays generously agreed to boost the bank up to £20,000.

And Barca-Leeds was among 31 community groups who were given a share of the cashpot.

At an award ceremony on Friday, YEP deputy editor Nicola Megson said all the winners they were "unsung heroes."

She added: "You are all making a day-to-day difference to the lives of people in our city. You are doing fantastic jobs."

The cheques were handed out by Leeds Central MP Hilary Benn.

He said events like the cash giveaway were a reminder of how much good there is in society.

"People want to make a difference," Mr Benn said. "They support their communities and give a helping hand to others."
