Bramley Phoenix U-16s went into this game hoping for a change it fortunes after a run of heavy defeats.
They started with a reshuffled team due to a number of injuries and opted to play Stephen Prince just in front of the back four to add some much needed stability.
This change in format worked well for Bramley and they frustrated Rothwell by breaking down one after attack after another.

Bramley looked equally impressive when going forward and Mikey Ash playing as the lone striker battled for every ball fed through to him. Unfortunately he was up against a disciplined Rothwell defence who played the offside trap to great effect.
Bramley's pressure paid off when Joe Hirst rose above the Rothwell defence and powered home a header from six yards.
In the second half a combination of tiredness and lapses in concentration cost Bramley severely. What they had managed to do so effectively in the first half they struggled to do in the second half and they let Rothwell play an effective passing game which increased their confidence and determination. Rothwells pressure paid off when they scored a well deserved equaliser.
From this point Rothwell upped their game and with some clinical finishing made Bramley pay and powered into a 3-1 lead. The game was eventually wrapped up when Joe Hirst deflected the ball into his own net to leave the final score 4-1.
This score line wasn't a true reflection of Bramley's performance, they showed a great deal of passion and determination which they should build upon for the rest of the season. This was definitely a game of two halves !!
