Century-old Bramley Carnival is under threat due to lack of funding.
Organisers of the Carnival have launched an appeal with the local business community in a bid to raise the final £2,000 so the show can go ahead.
* Click here for more Bramley Carnival news.The event – which dates back to 1891 – proved a massive hit when it revived last year, with more than 4,000 people flocking to the carnival in Bramley Park.
This year's event is due to take place on July 20 but could be in doubt unless funds are raised to cover Leeds City Council charges.
Terence Knapton, chairman of the carnival committee, said: "We are seeking local businesses to come forward and give what they can. Every pound does count, we need to raise about £2000 on top of the funding that we have already applied for.
"Bramley Carnival is in second year of revival having spent a decade in the doldrums
"We need to keep it running for the benefit of the community who have given lots of feedback from last year's event."
A host of activities has already been arranged for the carnival, including a funfair, talent competition and a performance by a stunt team.
Also planned is a display of classic fire engines, a dog show, go karting and displays by local majorette teams.
The event will also see the crowning of the Carnival Queen.
There is free admission to the carnival.
