A mother and son from Bramley whose dog was in such pain it would not eat have been banned from keeping animals.
Suzanne Sykes, 48, and Mark Sykes, 23, both of Broadlea Avenue were banned from keeping animals by Leeds Magistrates after admitting causing unnecessary suffering to their 15-year-old German Shepherd cross-breed Astrix.

They also failed to investigate and treat the causes of his condition.

Sykes was banned from keeping animals for life and her son for two years.

RSPCA inspector Sarah Briscoe said: "Astrix was clearly emaciated and had considerable hair loss where the skin was red and sore. It was obvious that he was suffering. He was diagnosed as having vast alopecia and severe dental disease." He was put down on veterinary advice.

The pair were ordered to pay a total of £500 costs.
