Batley dad killed own three-year-old son in 100mph crash after racing down M62

Israr Muhammed, 41, was travelling in a Honda Civic with his family of five on July 1, 2018, when he began racing along the M62 with another Civic driver.
At times during the chase the vehicles were just metres apart, a court heard, before Muhammed lost control and went careering over the embankment and into trees.

Hide AdThe crash killed Muhammed’s son while his seven year-old daughter suffered serious and life-changing facial injuries.
Their mum suffered multiple head and internal injuries and was in a coma for more than a month following the collision.
Muhammed was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing death whilst uninsured.

Hide AdThe defendant, from Batley, West Yorkshire was today (Thurs) convicted by a jury at Hull Crown Court following a nine day trial.
The other driver, 29-year-old Adam Molloy from Normanton, failed to stop at the scene on the day of the collision.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Molloy too was found guilty on all counts.
Humberside Police’s Serious Collisions Unit used dashcam footage from an independent witness to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Both defendants will be sentenced on November 2.
