Parkinson’s UK’s Skipton and District support group, which offers information, advice, help and friendship to local people affected by Parkinson’s, has issued an urgent appeal for a volunteer Support Group Coordinator. The group could face closure in the future if a volunteer doesn’t come forward.

The group, which has been running for 31 years, provides information, support, friendship, and social activities for local people affected by the condition. However, with volunteer numbers in decline, the group could be forced to shut if this vital role isn’t filled, leaving the Yorkshire Dales area without a dedicated support group.

Already comprising an existing team of enthusiastic volunteers, the group is appealing for a new Support Group Coordinator to assist with the smooth running of the group. This is a flexible role that has a big impact on people’s lives, helping to ensure people with Parkinson’s can access meetings and activities that make a real difference to them.
