AS Christmas illuminations go, the dramatic lights at Roundhay Park in Leeds this year are pretty spectacular.

The Magical Lantern Festival is taking place in the park until January 2 and is drawing big crowds.

It is billed as a spectacular fusion of art, heritage and culture. It is a stunning outdoor Christmas-themed event and visitors will follow a trail around Canal Gardens and Chelsea Gardens to explore amazing giant lanterns, which represent Christmas, traditional Chinese culture and the amazing 2,000-year heritage of Lantern Festivals.

Visitors can enter the festival through a giant 16 metre wide lantern entrance feature before embarking on a fascinating journey, discovering stunning lanterns in all shapes, colours and sizes from santa and reindeers to flowers and animals.
