Rebecca Chin spoke to school children in an assembly and showed them the special Great Britain sports kit that all paralympians were given.

The 16-year-old also spoke to children about her shot put and discus and also informed them what the athletes village was like in Beijing.

She then demonstrated how to throw a discus and shot put on the school playing fields and youngsters had the chance to see how heavy the equipment was for themselves.

Headteacher Allison Chin, who is Rebecca's aunt, said: "A number of children spent time on the internet, at home, researching Rebecca's sporting achievements, but two children in particular spent a long time researching in more detail about the paralympian categories and Rebecca's own life. I felt proud that the children were so interested in Rebecca that they spent time finding out all they could about her.

"I was very proud to have Rebecca come to Swinnow to share her Beijing experiences at my school and I hope that other children will be inspired to 'aim high' for things in their lives and work hard to achieve their personal goals, because anything is possible if you believe in yourself."
