When Sarah and Dave Dodd got married, the Bramley couple could have included "for thinner or even thinner" in their wedding vows.

That's because the newlyweds shed 70 pounds in weight between them to get trim in time for their big day.

For 31-year-old Sarah the weight-loss was especially sweet as she slipped effortlessly into her size 10 wedding dress after years of yo-yo dieting.

Sarah, an estate agent, said: "I did not want to feel like a fat bride and Dave went along to Weight Watchers to support me.

"I had yo-yo dieted for years but my weight overall seemed to always just creep on. The wedding was the catalyst for pushing us into losing weight and keeping things on track.

"We wanted everything to be perfect on the day and that kept us motivated."

Before the big day, Sarah had weighed 11 and a half stone, and Dave, 26, tipped the scales at almost 15 stone.

But by the wedding day, Sarah had shrunk to a size 10 from 16 and Dave was sporting a trim 34 inch waist having lost 34 pounds.

Sarah said: "When I went to buy my dress six months before the wedding I had already lost quite a bit of weight but had about another nine pounds to lose.

"I found a dress that was slightly tight around the waist that I absolutely loved and knew it was the one.

"When I went back for my fittings just before the wedding and tried the dress on again it was too big for me and the dress maker had to take quite a bit in from the bodice!

"This felt wonderful.

"I felt like the princess that I wanted to be on my wedding day and it brought tears to Dave's eyes when he saw me walking up the aisle."
