Liverpool are new entrants to the Cooperative RLC National championship this season, after enjoying considerable success in the RLC Regional and Premier Leagues. Winning their last two games at Huddersfield Underbank Rangers and home to East Lancashire Lions, the Buccaneers have made a swashbuckling start to their first season in the National championship.

Buffaloes assistant coach Mark Butterill is looking forward to the first home game for four weeks.

He said: "It has been a demanding period for the team, starting with a tough NRC Cup tie at Salford, travel to the northeast at Gateshead and down south to Hemel last week.

"But the team has shown great character. The lads were not disgraced at Super League hopefuls Salford, and wins at Gateshead and Hemel Stags have really got our championship challenge underway.

"John Elliker is missing, and we have been picking up one or two niggles, but the lads are looking forward to turning out at home after a long period on the road.

"We won't underestimate Liverpool Buccaneers who will be looking for a third win on the trot, but the Buffaloes showed great character in coming back from 16-0 down to win 26-16 at Hemel last weekend."


Bramley Buffaloes chairman, Martyn Cheney, added: "We are delighted to see the name of Liverpool back at the level of national competition and would urge fans to turn out for what should be a cracker, recalling memories of tussles between Bramley and Liverpool City at McLaren Field."

Saturday's game is due to kick off at 2.30pm.
