On a steep hill out of town the, ground is the oldest ground where rugby league has been played continuously.

The tight pitch is a difficult one to win on for visitors, and the Buffaloes suffered a rare 22-20 defeat in the corresponding fixture last year.

Huddersfield Underbank secured their first league win over East Lancashire Lions in their last match and Buffaloes Head Coach, Paul Cook, returns from holiday to once again take charge of the squad.

"The team have performed well, winning their games under Assistant Coach Mark Butterill in my absence, and I wish to show my appreciation of both Mark and the team's efforts" said Cook. "But we need to continue the momentum.

The Cross Grounds presents difficulties for visiting teams, as we found to our cost last year, but we have quality in the side from one to seventeen, so we will be concentrating on our game" he added.

Buffaloes will be picking mostly from strength, with only John Elliker missing.

Bramley Buffaloes chairman, Martyn Cheney, praised fans for their support so far this season, pointing out "our last two away games were at Gateshead and Hemel, and our fans have been visible despite the distance."

"Underbank is one of our nearer away games so we hope fans will turn out with their much appreciated vocal support," he added.

The game takes place on Saturday, May 10, at 2.30pm.
