Bramley Buffaloes break new ground when they take on Gateshead Storm on Saturday, in the club's first away match in the Cooperative RLC National Championship.
Bramley have played old rivals Storm every year since joining the then National League 3, but this year Storm have moved to new facilities at the Bullocksteads Sports Ground, Kentish Bankfoot, Newcastle.

Storm has developed a partnership with Northumbria University, and is eagerly looking forward to build on last season's progress.

Indeed, the Gateshead club started in storm mode in their first RLC National game last week, beating East Lancashire Lions by 62-18, having racked up 52 points the previous week in a pre-season friendly.

After the distractions of the various Cup competitions, Buffaloes Head Coach, Paul Cook, is looking forward to getting a run of championship games under the team's belt, commenting:

"I was extremely proud of the lads' performance at Salford last week, against a full-time professional club. But now the task starts of getting the league points. We have had the edge over Gateshead in the past but their performance last week means we will have to be on our mettle. It's a long haul for the championship and we all start equal, with most teams having recruited well during the off season.

Bramley have a clean bill of health with winger Thomas Tsang coming through a fitness test.

The only absentee from the Buffaloes will be Shaun Gilmour, ironically a former Storm player, who will miss the game against his former team-mates, who is away on holiday.

The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 12, at 2.30pm.
