Bramley Buffaloes maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a hard fought 30-4 home victory over Dewsbury Celtic.
Buffaloes coach Mark Butterill again took the opportunity to rotate his players.

Bramley went close to opening the scoring on 3 minutes when centre Matt Mullholland was unable to hold a pass with the lone open. However on 7 minutes home prop Antony Ward made good metres before passing to in-form winger Shaun Flynn, he immediately out paced the sliding defence and then chipped the ball over Celtic full back Jack Millington. Flynn won the race to re-gather the ball and scored midway between the posts and corner flag. Drake's conversion came back off the post.
Celtic recovered from conceding that try and aided by a succession of penalties and poor handling by Bramley, they started to build pressure. Lively winger Dane Adleigh thought he had scored on 13 minutes, however Flynn's ball and all tackle took him onto touch as he attempted to touch-down. Celtic though were not to be denied and 4 minutes later stand-off Rob Senior sold the Bramley defence a dummy and scored by the posts for a deserved try. Pat Foulstone who had been receiving treatment moments before missed the relatively simple conversion.
For the next 10 minutes Bramley failed to complete their sets of six and continually invited further Dewsbury pressure.
Although Dewsbury had the majority of the possession and much the better field position, they were unable to find a way through a resolute Buffaloes defence. Alex Walmsley made several good runs and there was plenty of enterprising play from Celtic but no killer final ball to open the defence up. John Elliker had a determined run on 25 minutes as Bramley made a rare foray into the Celtic half, however more lost ball cost the Buffaloes a rare opportunity to post points.
On 32 minutes after a couple of cheap penalties, Bramley started to apply some pressure to the Celtic goal line defence which had had very little work to do. Paul Drake saw a gap and took 2 defenders with him as he scored an opportunist try under the posts which he converted. This gave the Buffaloes the lift they needed and they then bossed what was left of the first half. Another Drake kick through was followed by an excellent chase and the Buffaloes were able to build more pressure on the Celtic line.
Andy McGann who had another top class game at fullback, almost got Flynn in at the corner, however excellent defence bundled him into touch. On the stroke of half time Steven Gill returning from injury, took 4 defenders with him as he drove for the line, allowing 'G-Man', Graham Harrison to dart over under the posts from dummy half for another smart try, 16-4 at half-time.
The second half was for the most part forgettable as a spectacle. Neither team were able to get any flow into their game and along with a host of penalties awarded by the referee, play was continually disrupted. Bramley had the majority of field position and registered another 3 tries through Aidy Manley, Graham Harrison and Shaun Flynn. Manley reacted quickly on 52 minutes to score from a Drake kick into the Celtic in-goal area following excellent work again from Gill and Elliker. Matt Mullholland was carried off on 66 minutes with a badly damaged ankle, we wish him well.
On the back of a Chris Gardner run, Graham Harrison crossed for his second try under the posts on 74 minutes. Followed 2 minutes later by a flowing 70m move which saw centre Dan Caston send John Elliker on a 30m run before drawing full back Millington to send Flynn over in the corner for his second try.
The game finished on a sour note as Bramley's Dan Caston was dismissed for a headbutt on 78 minutes. Celtic' Rob Senior was sin-binned for retaliation and he was followed by Danny Lee 2 minutes later also for a headbutt.
Overall a very scrappy game. Some solid performances for Bramley but poor handling and decision making undermined their overall performance. Coach Mark Butterill felt his team only operated at 60% efficiency and added that there was plenty of work still to do. He paid tribute to the Celtic team for their tenacity. Dewsbury Celtic coach Paul Heaton felt that his young team were improving week on week and he was very pleased with their performance and he picked out Jamie Graves for special mention.
Game star: Graham Harrison was always a threat, he scored 2 very sharply taken tries, made numerous metres running from dummy half as well as getting through his usual high number of quality tackles, heart and soul of the team.
Game breaker: Graham Harrison's smart second try on 74 minutes effectively put the game beyond the reach of a determined Celtic team.
