Three horses caused havoc today after they managed to jump over a metal fence on Leeds and Bradford Road in Bramley.
At 6.45am a lone black and white horse was seen wandering down the pavement.

A motorist and a cyclist both stopped to try to stop the horse from wandering into the road but it did so a number of times, causing two near-misses.

About half an hour later, another horse managed to jump the fence and was joined moments later by a third.

The police arrived on the scene at about 7.15am.

An eye witness said: "This is the third time I have seen this happen. The horses are able to get over the fence because it is broken in places and very low. It's dangerous because they do wander into the road, they get nervous and it's a very busy road. Something needs doing about that fence because otherwise it will just happen again."

A police spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 6.45am of a horse on the road, near the Broad Lea estate. A second horse was then spotted further down the road. The horses were collected by the owner and put into a van."

It is not the first time the horses have come to prominence. Earlier this year, the YEP reported how concerned residents living opposite raised the alarm after it appeared the pack had been abandoned without food or water.
